October 6, 2025 — Successful Spectral Acquisition in a Cryogenic Environment

Inside the NINJA Cryostat.
Spectroscopic data obtained with NINJA using an emission-line source. The spectrum covers wavelengths from approximately 0.85 to 2.5 μm from left to right.

All optical components—including the infrared detector—and moving mechanisms such as the slit‑exchange system were integrated into the cryostat, and cooling tests were carried out under cryogenic conditions. Under the same operational temperature environment as during actual observations at the Subaru Telescope, we successfully obtained the first spectroscopic data.

This test allowed us not only to verify the optical alignment but also to acquire data essential for evaluating the control system in preparation for future operations.

The tests were conducted at the Advanced Technology Center (ATC) of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan.
